About this class
Unleash your creativity and dive into the wild with our Safari Splash Art Class, designed for adventurous 16-year-olds. This art class will combine the excitement of a safari adventure with creative expression and learning about the importance of conserving our planet, wildlife and biodiversity. Whether you’re an aspiring artist or just looking to have some fun, this class will provide an unforgettable experience learning about top environmental concerns, how you can get involved, exploring the beauty of wildlife, interactive learning and transformation into art.
Showcase and Exhibition: At the end of the course, students will have the opportunity to showcase their artwork.
Proposed timing: 4 weeks Aug 8 – Aug 29, 2 hours – Thurs 3:30-5:30
Cost: $90 each class x 4 weeks = $360 per student
Class limit: 10
Ages: 16+
Materials List Need:
• Set of watercolor tubes (student or artist quality) – Blick, Prang, Derwent, Holbein
• Cold-press watercolor paper (e.g. arches, Strathmore) – 11x 15 and 8×10
• Sketchbook, rubber, HB pencil, ruler
• Set of mix brushes (round, flat) – Dick Blick or Catskill Art Supply.
• Mixing palette
• Two containers for water
• Paper towels
About the Instructor
A native of London, Samantha Taylor is the founder of Elephant Art Shop which she set up in 2015 and established Elephant Cottage in Bearsville in 2018, which was previously an art retreat called ‘Flatrocks’ in the 1930s.
Elephant Art Shop advocates for and raises awareness about a broad range of social justice and environmental causes including community empowerment, women and girls, youth education, wildlife preservation, arts and culture.
My extensive portfolio of watercolor paintings includes wildlife species, reflections on nature, racial justice and inclusion, and community life. The portfolio includes elephants, owls, lions, birds, bears, trees and pets.
Nature and trees are the driving force for artistic creativity and inspiration. Living in the Catskills is the perfect environment and community.

About this event
2 Sessions Aug 23 and Aug 30, 3- 6 pm. Two models posing together for both sessions, Todd and Stephia. You may come to both sessions or just one. Adult Experienced Artists only and must be 18 years old or over. No Instruction. Same poses for both sessions for those who want to dive in deep.
We have some easels, tables, art horses and drawing boards, lots of chairs, all are first come basis. Bring your own art materials. No strong smelling turps etc. You may also bring your own portable easel if you like.
** Note there are about 15 stairs up to the art studio. Street parking or the free parking lot down the street behind the bank. No on-site parking.
$40 PER SESSION or 2 SLOTS on the 4 CLASS PUNCH CARD (punch cards are $60 for 4 regular drawing sessions and you can use any time; never expires but only applies to Life Drawing Sessions.

There are a few easels and we also have tables and chairs. Poses for 1, 5, 10, 15, and 20 min. Limited to 15 people per session.
